It takes more than good writers and actors to make a successful movie or TV show. In some cases it takes forensic scientists, meteorologists, and doctors too.Forensic-Science

Forensic Science is a scientific method that law enforcement uses to gather information at a crime scene so they can process and catch a killer or criminal. Forensic Science dates back to the ancient Roman times when they used Astronomy and Archaeology along with Biology and Geology to process and convict criminals. In hit TV shows such as NCIS, CSI and Cold Case they bring in actual forensic scientists so that everything sounds realistic. They help the viewer to understand how evidence is gathered at a crime scene and processed. With this understanding, the viewer feels like they are part of the investigation which will keep them tuned in.Untitled

Meteorologists are used to predict the weather. In movies such as Twister, The Perfect Storm, and Into the Storm have a lot of special effects to keep from losing the interest of the audience. But they also use Meteorologists to add realism helping the writers use the correct scientific terminology.

Doctors spend many years in school learning how the human body works and how to heal it. TV shows like House M.D. and Grey’s Anatomy may not have been successful if they didn’t use trained medical professionals to help write the scripts. The realism this ads draws you in and makes you care about what happens to the characters.

Movies and TV shows are meant to be entertaining but in some cases they need to be scientifically correct as well. Using professionals trained in various sciences ads a sense of realism and legitimacy that helps to keep people interested, tuned in and in their seats.
