In hit TV shows such as NCIS, CSI and Cold Case they bring in actual forensic scientists so that everything sounds realistic. They help the viewer to understand how evidence is gathered at a crime scene and processed. With this understanding, the viewer feels like they are part of the investigation which will keep them tuned in.
Meteorologists are used to predict the weather. In movies such as Twister, The Perfect Storm, and Into the Storm have a lot of special effects to keep from losing the interest of the audience. But they also use Meteorologists to add realism helping the writers use the correct scientific terminology.
Doctors spend many years in school learning how the human body works and how to heal it.
