Issue #11 – Meals Ready to Eat

4MRE’s are a compact way for our military to carry their food. It allows them to have complete meals where ever they go. All the food is individually wrapped and placed in one bag. There is a wide variety of main courses to choose from. All MRE’s also come with a drink, and various snacks.

Energy bars, applesauce, cheese and crackers, pop-tarts, Reese’s Pieces, and cookies are some of the snacks that are available. There is a pouch that heats water to cook the food which takes about 15 minutes or less. The MRE’s even come with condiments, gum, toilet paper, and wet napkins.

Circles Magazine tried two different MRE’s and thought that they were quite delicious. We had a breakfast MRE with sausage and a pancake, coffee, orange drink, crackers, and a Pop Tart. We also tried a Veggie Burger with apple sauce, an energy bar, and a IMAG0123chocolate brownie.

That’s a little different then when I was in the service. We had freeze dried meals and all it needed was water. If you wanted a hot meal you used hot water. Some were really good! And some I won’t let an animal eat. And quite a few were moldy.
