Issue #10 – Feeding Vegas

Many people in the Las Vegas area go without an adequate amount of food. It isn’t just homeless individuals or people on state assistance. It is also average middle class families that have fallen on financial hard times. One option that people have is food banks. A food bank is a non-profit, charitable organization that distributes food to those who have difficulty purchasing enough to avoid hunger. The food is donated by the community as well as local and national businesses. People can also volunteer to help distribute the food to those in need. Because of the large number of people needing help, a lot of food pantries only serve residents located in certain zip codes. People may have to verify that they live in that zip code before receiving help so they should contact the organization in their area to find out the requirements. Circles Magazine has put together a list of just a few of the organizations that do a wonderful job of making sure a few less people go to bed hungry.
