Issue #6 – Recipe: Peanut Brittle

Peanut Brittle was one of the first candies ever made. The salted peanuts are covered in a sugary crunch candy which creates a party in your mouth! In our contemporary version of this age-old recipe,

All of the cooking is simply done by using a microwave. This traditional recipe is fun, inexpensive and easy. Just pour, cool, break and eat! So have fun and share the excitement by making this a wonderful gift for someone sweet

Step 1: Butter a cookie sheet and set aside

Step 2: Pour 1 cup of sugar and 1/2 cup corn syrup into glass bowl

    Step 3: Place sugar and corn syrup into the microwave. Set timer for 4 minutes 

Step 3 Put Bowl Into MicrowaveStep 4: Pour in 1 cup of salted peanuts and stir. Place in the microwave for 31/2 more minutes.Step 4 Part 1Step 4 Part 2

Step 5: Add 1 teaspoon of butter and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to bowl and mix well. Return to the microwave for 1 1/2 minutesStep 4 Part 2

 

Step 6:Add 1 teaspoon of baking soda and stir until light and foamy

Step 7: Pour all ingredients onto the buttered cookie sheet. Spread thin using a rubber spatulaStep 5

Step 8: Allow candy cool completely. Break into pieces and it’s ready to serve!
