This Italian favorite has been used as a dip and a sauce for centuries. Let’s follow along and enjoy an easy and delicious basil sauce suitable for any holiday party spread!
Pesto Ingredients and Equipment:
20 fresh basil leaves
1 small clove of garlic (or 1/2 tsp
1/4 cup pine nuts
3/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
1/4 T Kosher salt
1 Sliced Roma tomato
Mortar and pestle
Slicer or knife
Always wash your hands before handling any food
Gently wash basil
and lay out to dry.
Add basil and pine nuts to mortar.
Roughly chop garlic or add
chopped garlic from a jar.
Grate fresh parmesan cheese.
Add garlic and salt to mortar.
Start grinding with pestle, pressing
and rotating. Keep pressing until all
ingredients are finely mixed together.
Add cheese to mortar and keep
grinding (About 15 minutes.)
Add olive oil and stir until creamy.
Drizzle over tomatoes or dip
chunks of fresh Italian bread!
