Las Vegas has a number of celebrities that call the valley home. From magicians to sport stars, many of the rich and famous have moved to Las Vegas. But did you know that there are many famous people that actually come from Las Vegas?

Brandon Flowers, the lead singer for the band “The Killers” is from Las Vegas and attended Chaparral High School. Motor Cross star Carey Hart was also born in Las Vegas. Two of the most famous Las Vegas natives are Kurt Busch and Andre Agassi.

Kurt Busch, 2004 NASCAR Champion, was born in Las Vegas on August 4th 1978. He was raised here and attended Durango High School. He started his career racing dwarf cars at a Pahrump race track. He holds an annual charity go-cart race here every year to support The Kurt Busch Foundation. One of the focuses of his foundation is to support military families in need.

Andre Agassi, considered to be one of the greatest tennis players of all time, was born in Las Vegas on April 29, 1970, and remains very active in our community. In 1994, he founded the Andre Agassi Charitable Association and The Foundation for Education to assist Las Vegas’ young people. Through these foundations, he has supported Child haven, Boys and Girls Club, and in 2001 opened the Andre Agassi College Preparatory Academy for underserved children. In 2007, he founded Athletes for Hope, a charity which helps other professional athletes get involved in charitable causes.

These famous “roots” of ours have done so well and are good at what they do. We should be proud that they are a part of our community and always reach for our goals like they did.
